Starting my 30th year of teaching and still going strong. It remains my goal to constantly try new methods to reach my students.
American Government - United States Government is part of the social studies curriculum that will focus on the fundamentals of the American Federal system. During the year students will be involved with projects, both individual and group: students will do a “Student Activity Project”, which will include several writing assignments as well community service requirements. Extra effort and excellence is expected. Student creativity and input will make this a challenging and, I hope, enjoyable experience. African American Studies - will focus on the African American experience from the pre-colonial period to post civil rights. Included in the framework is the study of the cultural heritage of African Americans, contributions of African Americans to America and the world, concepts of assimilation and a historical perspective to analyze contemporary issues in American politics, art, music, literature, and economics. Students will engage in various activities including projects, literary studies, discussions, research and writing. The course may also include field trips. Student creativity and input will make this a challenging and, I hope, enjoyable experience. |
